Our Commitment

Since our first product rolled off the line in Strand in 2004, Advanced 4x4 has engineered gear built to outlast the vehicle it's fitted to. Our bumpers, rock sliders, bash plates, and accessories are manufactured from premium South African steel, designed and tested for real trail use.

The Advanced 4x4 Trade-In Guarantee is our way of putting that confidence in writing: when you're ready to upgrade, your genuine Advanced 4x4 product retains real, guaranteed value — regardless of how trail-worn it is.

This policy explains exactly how the guarantee works, what qualifies, and what doesn't. It's written in plain language so there are no surprises either way.

1. How the Guarantee Works

• Guaranteed value: 50% of the current Recommended Retail Price (RRP) at the date your trade-in is approved — not the price you originally paid, but today's price for the equivalent current product.
• "RRP" defined: the full retail price published on the Advanced 4x4 website or official price list on the date your trade-in is processed, inclusive of VAT. It does not include any seasonal special, promotional discount, bundle deal, or once-off sale price.
• Condition doesn't affect the percentage: whether your product is trail-worn, scratched, or in showroom condition, the guaranteed value is 50% of current RRP, provided the product still meets the eligibility conditions in Section 4 below.
• Applied as credit, not cash: the trade-in value is issued as store credit toward a new Advanced 4x4 manufactured product in the same product category (see Section 4). It is not redeemable for cash and is not transferable to another person or account.
• Credit validity: trade-in credit must be used within 12 months of issue, after which it lapses. We'll always confirm this expiry date in writing when your credit is issued.

2. Eligibility

• Available to retail (individual consumer) customers only. This programme does not apply to trade, fleet, or wholesale accounts.
• No proof of purchase or invoice is required. Ownership isn't the qualifying test — authentication is. Any product confirmed by our team as a genuine, Advanced 4x4 manufactured product qualifies, regardless of who currently owns it or how it was acquired.
• No minimum ownership period applies. It doesn't matter how old the product is or how long you've owned it, provided it meets the authentication and condition requirements in Section 4.
• A product can be traded in more than once, each time it changes hands or is upgraded, provided it's confirmed as a genuine Advanced 4x4 manufactured product at each trade-in and the trade-in otherwise meets the requirements set out in this policy.
• Advanced 4x4 has sole and final discretion to determine whether a product is genuine, unaltered, and eligible for this programme. This is a determination made for the purposes of this voluntary trade-in programme only. It is separate from, and does not itself constitute, any legal finding of counterfeiting — see Section 4 for how suspected counterfeit or reproduction items are handled.

3. What This Guarantee Does Not Affect

This trade-in programme is a voluntary commercial incentive offered by Advanced 4x4, separate from — and in addition to — your statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA). In particular:

• Nothing in this policy limits, waives, or replaces your rights under Section 56 of the CPA (the implied 6-month warranty of quality), under which defective goods may still be returned for repair, replacement within 6 months of delivery, regardless of this trade-in programme.
• This programme is separate from, and additional to, the standard product warranty that applies to your Advanced 4x4 purchase (see your product's warranty documentation for full terms).
• If your product is defective or unsafe, please refer to our standard warranty and returns process rather than the trade-in process — the trade-in programme is for products you'd like to upgrade, not for resolving a fault.

4. What Qualifies

To be accepted into the trade-in programme, your product must be:

• A genuine, Advanced 4x4 manufactured product — third-party, reseller, or non-Advanced 4x4 branded products (including ARTAV or other stocked brands) are not eligible under this programme.
• Verifiable as genuine by our manufacturing team upon inspection. This authentication step is mandatory for every trade-in, with no exceptions.
• Completely unaltered from the condition in which it left our factory. Normal wear, scratches, fading, and trail use are all fine and do not affect your guaranteed value — but any modification, cutting, re-welding, re-drilling that affects the structure, or repair of any kind, by anyone, at any time, disqualifies the product from this programme. This applies even where the work was done well or by a qualified party; the requirement is that the product is unaltered, not that any alteration was done safely.
• From a vehicle that has not been in an accident that resulted in the vehicle being declared a total loss / written off. If the vehicle the product was fitted to was written off following an accident, the product itself is not eligible for trade-in under this programme, regardless of its outward condition, because we cannot verify what forces it may have been subjected to.

Your product will not qualify for trade-in if it:

• Has been modified, cut, re-welded, repaired in any way by anyone, including Advanced 4x4 or an authorised Advanced 4x4 fitment centre;
• Has had any component altered, removed, or replaced with a non-genuine part;
• Was fitted to a vehicle that was in an accident resulting in the vehicle being written off;
• Shows signs of being counterfeit, a reproduction, or otherwise misrepresented as a genuine Advanced 4x4 product.

If your product is assessed as ineligible for a reason other than suspected counterfeiting (for example, it's been altered, or was fitted to a written-off vehicle), we'll explain why in writing and return it to you. Return shipping in this case is for your account, unless we determine the ineligibility was due to an error on our part, in which case we'll cover it.

Counterfeit or Reproduction Products

If, during authentication, our team has reasonable grounds to believe a submitted item is counterfeit, a reproduction, or otherwise not a genuine Advanced 4x4 manufactured product presented as one:

• We will decline to process it under this trade-in programme. Our authentication decision for purposes of this programme is final.
• Dealing in counterfeit goods bearing the Advanced 4x4 name is a criminal offence in South Africa under the Counterfeit Goods Act 37 of 1997, in addition to being a consumer-protection matter. As the rights holder, we're entitled to lay a criminal complaint with the South African Police Service and/or pursue civil remedies available to us under South African law.
• Seizure of suspected counterfeit goods is carried out by SAPS members or authorised inspectors under the Counterfeit Goods Act, generally under a warrant — Advanced 4x4 does not itself have the legal power to confiscate goods on suspicion alone. Where we have reasonable grounds to suspect an item is counterfeit, our practice is to report the matter to SAPS and cooperate fully with any resulting investigation, which may include being asked by SAPS to hold an item as evidence pending that process.
• This process applies independently of, and in addition to, any other legal consequences that may follow from submitting a counterfeit or misrepresented product for trade-in, including under the Consumer Protection Act and common law.

Your trade-in credit applies toward any new Advanced 4x4 manufactured product within the same product category as the item traded in (for example, bumper for bumper, rock sliders for rock sliders) — including for a newer or different vehicle fitment. It cannot be applied across categories (for example, a bash plate trade-in cannot be used toward a winch bumper).

5. How to Initiate a Trade-In

1. Contact us first. Email sales@advanced4x4.co.za or call 021 569 7238 to start your trade-in request. Our team will confirm your basic eligibility (product type and category) and issue you a trade-in reference number.
2. Get a shipping cost estimate. Before you send anything, we'll provide a cost estimate for shipping your product to our factory. All trade-in items must be sent directly to our Strand manufacturing facility — our fitment centres are not authorised to accept trade-ins directly. Address: Advanced 4x4, 36 De Kock Street, Strand, Western Cape, 7140.
3. Verification. Once received, our team verifies the product as genuine and checks it against the eligibility conditions in Section 4. This typically takes 2–3 business days from receipt.
4. Credit issued. Once verified and approved, your 50% trade-in credit is confirmed in writing, along with its 12-month validity date, and applied to your new order.
5. New product delivered. Your new Advanced 4x4 product is manufactured or dispatched and delivered to you.

6. Costs

• Shipping your old product to us is for your account. We'll always quote this in advance so there are no surprises.
• Delivery of your new product is for your account, quoted at the time of order, unless otherwise agreed.
• Fitment at an authorised Advanced 4x4 fitment centre is not included in the trade-in credit and is charged separately at standard fitment rates.
• If your product is found ineligible after inspection, see Section 4 for return shipping responsibility.

7. Ownership

Once your trade-in is accepted and credit is issued, the traded-in product becomes the property of Advanced 4x4.

8. Changes to This Programme

We may update or discontinue this trade-in programme for future purchases at any time, with reasonable notice published on our website. Any changes will not reduce the guaranteed trade-in value for products purchased before the change took effect, provided all other eligibility conditions in this policy continue to be met at the time of trade-in.

9. General

• This programme is governed by, and read together with, Advanced 4x4's standard Terms and Conditions of sale, available on our website.
• Nothing in this policy excludes, limits, or restricts any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other applicable South African law.
• If you're unhappy with how a trade-in request has been handled, you're welcome to raise it directly with us in the first instance; unresolved consumer complaints may also be referred to the National Consumer Commission or an applicable industry ombud.

Most 4x4 accessories depreciate to zero the moment they're fitted. Because we manufacture our own products, control our own quality, and stand behind our own welds, we're able to back them with a real, guaranteed future value — something that's very difficult for an importer or reseller of third-party products to offer.
